- THE NEW WASTEBASKET FOR WINDOWS 3.1
-
- is a very safe utility which allows You to delete (move) files to a hidden
- directory \_WASTE and restore it back to it's original. The new WasteBasket
- has the same or more features than compareable applications (like SUN-OpenWindows
- Wastebasket, Macintosh or TrashCan). Please have a look at the options-window.
- WasteBasket uses much of the new features of Windows 3.1, like drag'n drop,
- FM-extensions and standard windows. It works closely together with the filemanager,
- so it creates an own menu entry in the filemanagers mainwindow. It handles files and
- directories. WasteBasket can be used as an icon or as dialog-box. You can open the
- icon by double click. If You have selected some items (files or directories)
- at the right side of the file window or search windows of the filemanager, You can
- drop them onto the WasteBasket window or icon and they will be moved into WasteBasket.
- Alternatively You can press the delete-key and You'll get the same results.
- If You want to delete some items really (without moving it to WasteBasket), You can
- press Ctrl+Delete and the customary action of the filemanager will be executed.
- If You want to recover deleted items, You should open the WasteBasket icon, select
- the items and press the restore button (ALT+R). The Items will be moved to their
- original positions and they will have the same attributes and times as they
- had before the deletion. If the target of an item exists again, You will be asked
- whether You want to replace the new entry. Note that directories and files are
- handled in the same way: "replace" means, that the old item will be deleted
- completely before the new item will be copied to it's position.
- So no document is accidently lost and you do not need to use any of the
- (more or less dangerous) resident undelete utilities. For more informations,
- please read the WasteBasket help file.

- Installation
-
- The file WBASKT31.EXE is a self-extracting archive. You should copy it to a
- Temp-Directory and call WBASKT31<RETURN>. The program files will be extracted.
-
- Please install
- * WASTE.EXE and DLLWASTE.DLL,
- if You use the Windows 3.1 filemanager
- * only WASTE.EXE,
- if You use another filemanager (This causes that You
- cannot create the connection to fileman.exe.
- You can use only the drag'n drop feature.)
- * the file BWCC.DLL,
- if You do not use the BORLAND-C++ 3.1 Windows options
- (and have not yet installed this file)
-
- Please copy all of the files needed to the same subdirectory, for example the
- Windows 3.1 directory. The file DLLWASTE.DLL performs the surface between
- WASTE.EXE and the Windows 3.1 filemanager. Add the following to Your
- WINFILE.INI:
-
- [AddOns]
- Waste=x:\subdir\dllwaste.dll
-
- x:\subdir must be the path where the files are situated.
- If You use the Windows 3.1 filemanager, it's not advisable to start the WasteBasket
- manually. WasteBasket is loaded automatically when fileman starts. You can load and
- unload the module by the menu entry of the filemanager.
